AMD Zen vs Intel – First Look, Gaming and Much More

AMD Zen vs  Intel – First Look, Gaming and Much More – I got a chance to check out Bristol Ridge, AMD’s new 8-core 16-thread Zen-based CPU, at a briefing in San Francisco.

At a presentation during the Intel Developer Forum, AMD showed a prototype of their upcoming 8-core Summit Ridge processor (based on the Zen architecture) benchmarked against the Intel Core i7 6900K Broadwell-E processor. Both chips feature 8 cores (16 threads) and were both clocked at a fixed clock frequency of 3.0 GHz. The benchmark is rendering a 3D image in the Blender software. The upcoming AMD chip, although still being pre-final silicon, proved to be a little faster than the high-end Intel chip. With this demonstration, AMD claims that in 2017 they will finally give Intel some competition again.
